はあはあ	あえぐ	gasping and panting; huff and puff	Being mad and angry, he yelled, cried and shouted huffing and puffing. 怒りと憤慨のあまり彼ははあはああえぎながら、叫び、わめき、怒鳴った。  Note    huff も puff 息の音を表わす言葉ですので、「はあはあ」というカンジが良く出ていて、擬音語に近いと言えます。 gasp 、 pant は「息をきらす」意味。ふたつの言葉を重ねることで「ぜいぜい」いわせている様子が良く現れています。
はきはき	言う	brisk and active; promptly and clearly	Speak out promptly and clearly when you say something. 意見を言うときははきはきと発言しなさい。
ばさばさ	分散	disheveled	She ran after the thief with her hair disheveled and finally tackled him. 彼女は髪がばさばさになりながらも、泥棒を追いかけ、ついに組み伏せた。
バシャバシャ	はねる	splash	The rain has stopped and some children are happily splashing in the puddles. 雨が止んで子供たちが、楽しそうにバシャバシャと水たまりで遊んでいる。
はなばなしい	成功	brilliant; splendid	Born a daughter of a miner, she has made a brilliant success in show business. 坑夫の娘として生まれた彼女は、芸能界ではなばなしい成功をおさめた。
ばたっと	倒れる	fall flat	As soon as he opened the door, he fell flat on the floor. 彼はドアを開けたとたんにばたっと床に倒れてしまった。
ぱたぱた	歩く	pitter-patter	"I heard a girl pitter-pattering in slippers." "How did you know she was in slippers?" 「女の子がスリッパでぱたぱた歩くのを聞いたんです。」「なぜそれがスリッパだとわかったのかね？」  Note   「ぱたぱた」も「ぺたぺた」も pitter-patter ちなみに雨などが「ぱらぱら」降る音にも使えます。
ばたばた	忙しい	hectic	Sorry we couldn't make it, we had just moved and things were hectic. 行けなくてすみません。なにしろ引っ越したばっかりでばたばたしてたものですから。  Note   「ばたばた」も「てんてこまい」も要は「忙しい」ということですが、 hectic のほうが、 busy よりも大騒ぎしているニュアンスが出ています。
バタン	倒れる（物）	a bang	The billboard fell with a bang. 看板がバタンと倒れた。
バタン	倒れる（人）	a bump	He fell with a bump on the floor. 彼はバタンと床に倒れてしまった。
バタン	閉まる	bang	The door banged shut. ドアがバタンと閉まった。
パタン	閉じる	slam ... shut	"That's it," he said and slammed the book shut. 「これでよし」と言って彼は本をパタンと閉じた。
バタンキュー	疲れる	conk out	It had been a hard day with a lot of hard jobs, he conked out as soon as he was home. 重労働で大変な一日だったので、家に着いたとたんに彼はバタンキューの状態だった。
パチパチ	燃える	crack	The bamboos are cracking as they burn. 竹はパチパチ音をたてて燃えている。
パチパチ	手をたたく	clap	People clapped their hands when the dog played his tricks. 犬が芸をすると、人々はパチパチと手をたたいた。
ばちゃばちゃ	はねる	splash	Kids are playing outside splashing through the puddles after rain. 子供たちは雨の後にできた水たまりをバシャバシャ歩きながら遊んでいる。
パチン	指を鳴らす	snap the fingers	He stopped the waiter by snapping his fingers. 彼は指をパチンと鳴らしてウェイターを呼び止めた。
パチン	閉める	shut ... with a snap	She shut her purse with a snap. 彼女はサイフをパチンと閉めた。
ばっちり	成功	... to kill; a breeze	What has happened to him, he says the exam was a breeze. 彼に何が起こったのか、試験はばっちりだったと言っているが。
ぱっちり	目	big bright eyes	The grandmother was very happy to see a cute baby with big bright eyes and exclaimed, "Oh what a lovely baby!" 祖母はぱっちりした目の可愛い赤ん坊を見て、「あらま、なんて可愛い赤ちゃん！」と喜びの声をあげた。
はっと	驚く	stunning; be startled out of ...	I was startled out of my sleep by a big noise at midnight. 夜中の大きな物音ではっとして目が覚めた。
ぱっと	垢抜けない様子	dull; not stand out; ordinary	A great star he is now, but some say that he didn't stand out in college. 彼は今こそ大スターだが、大学時代はぱっとしなかったらしい。
ぱっと	光	become bright all at once	The night sky became bright all at once because of big fireworks. 大きな花火が上がって夜空がぱっと明るくなった。
はらはら	落ち着かない様子	be on pins and needles; kept in suspense	They were on pins and needles because their boss was completely drunk and would do anything shameful again. 彼らは上司が全く出来あがっていて、また何か恥ずかしいことをしでかしはしないかとはらはらしていた。
ばらばら	分散	scatter	I broke my father's expensive jar, and the pieces scattered around on the floor. 父の高価な壷を割ってしまい、破片が床にばらばらと散った。
パラパラ	雨が降る	the sprinkle of rain; the pitter-patter of rain	As soon as she heard the pitter-patter of rain, she dashed out to bring in the laundry. 雨がパラパラ降ってきた音を聞いたとたん、彼女は外へ飛び出し、洗濯物を取り込みに行った。
ぱりっと	垢抜けた様子	crisp and neat	He looks crisp and neat and happy and excited today. No wonder he goes out with his girlfriend. 彼はぱりっとした様子で、しかもうきうきと興奮気味だ。それもそのはず、デートらしい。
ばりばり	働く	work like blazes	The staff are working like bees while the boss, like blazes. スタッフはあくせく働き、ボスはばりばり働く。
ぱりぱり	食べる	crunch	Elderly people have difficulty in crunching senbei, so don't serve it to them. お年寄りはせんべいをぱりぱり食べられないので出さないようにしてください。
はればれ	顔	look cheerful	What kind of speces is he, he looks so cheerful as if nothing has ever heppened, after being rebuked and reproached again and again by his boss. 性懲りもなく上司に怒られ、非難されても、何事もなかったようにはればれした顔をしている彼は一体何者？
ぱんぱん	お腹	be ready to burst	My stomach is ready to burst after having three plates of curry and rice. カレーを3倍も食べてしまってお腹がぱんぱんです。
