④式台の間

お城に参上した大名が老中たちと挨拶を交わしたのがここ。将軍への献上品、つまり、想像するに、○○特産の「塩こぶ」とか、○○名物「××豆」なんか（？）をここで受け取ったみたい。やっぱりさ、ここだけの話、出世するって、いいわね～。襖絵は狩野探幽という人が25歳のときに描いたらしいわ。

(4) Reception Room

The room was used as the reception area where visiting feudal lords would meet the Roju (Elders). Offerings or gifts to the shogun were received by the Elders here. The Fusuma door painting was the work of Kano Tanyu when he was 25.

⑤老中の間

つまり、老中のオフィスってわけね。ここで、老中って呼ばれるおエライ人たちが「執務」をしてたんだって。どんな仕事してたのかしら？普通、エライ人たちがする仕事って、「はんこ押し」と人に会うことかな、って思ってんだけど…。なんかつまんないわね、アタシには向いてない仕事ね。

(5) Elders' Office

Elders or Roju used to work on their papers in these three adjacent rooms. Plain walls and ceilings, as well as less-decorative interiors, show a notable contrast to other luxurious rooms.
