まごにもいしょう
馬子にも衣装

Fine feathers make fine birds.
The tailor makes the man.

"feather" が「衣装」というわけですが、 "a feather in one's hat (or cap)" で「名誉、誇りとなるもの」の意味、"show the white feather" で「臆病風を吹かせる」といった意味になります。現代風には、Good clothes make the person といった言い方も良く使われます、

みいらとりがみいらになる
ミイラ取りがミイラになる

Go for wool and come home shorn.

"come home shorn" は「身ぐるみ剥がれて帰ってくる」という意味ですが、「刈られた羊」はかなりみじめな境遇を指すようです。別のことわざに God tempers the wind to the shorn lamb. 「神は刈りたての子羊（弱い者）には風を加減する」というものがあります。

見ざる聞かざる言わざる

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
The see-not, hear-not, and speak-not policy

俗に「三猿主義」などと言われますが、つまり簡単に言ってしまえば "stay totally indifferent" のことですね。あるいは "no interest, no idea, and no involvement" というわけです。

Old habits die hard.
As a boy, so the man.

その他の表現として、 As a boy, so the man. / The child is father of the man. とも言いますが、どちからというと「子供はそのまま大人になる」といったニュアンスが強くなります。

目からうろこがおちる

scales fall from one's eyes

新約聖書からの引用で、原文は "The scales fell off from his eyes." となっており、「誤りを悟る」、「迷いから醒める」といった意味です。魚の鱗もこの "scale" を使います。

もちはもちや
餅は餅屋

Everyone to his trade.
Every man for his own trade.

「餅は餅屋」なんだから専門家に聞けと、素人療法を戒める場合は、 "a specialist's view then a layman's idea" などと言うほうが適切です。ちなみに「くろうとはだし」という場合は、 "It puts even a professional to shame." などといいます。
