あつあつ	熱い	piping hot	The waiter put piping hot gratin on my table. ウェイターはあつあつのグラタンをテーブルに置いた。  Note   piping は pipe （笛）を吹くということから「シューシュー」という音をたてるように熱い様子を言います。
あつあつ	情熱的	red-hot	They have been married for ten years, but they are still red-hot lovers. 結婚して10年にもなるというのにふたりは依然あつあつだ。
ぬくぬく	ぬくい	in comfortable environment; snugly	A cat is lying snugly in front of the heater. ネコがストーブの前でぬくぬくと寝そべっている。
ほかほか	ぬくい	piping hot; fresh from the oven	I got a piping hot sweet potato in the street. 外でほかほかの焼きイモを買ってきた。  Note   「あつあつ」と「ほかほか」の温度差を考えると、やはり「あつあつ」のほうが熱そうですね。でも英語ではあまり差はないようです。
ぽかぽか	ぬくもり	toasty warm	These gloves keep my fingers toasty warn. この手袋は指がぽかぽか暖かい。  Note    toast で「火でからだを暖める」という意味があります。
ほのぼの	ぬくもり	heartwarming	There is something heartwarming in his way of talking. 彼の話し方にはどこかほのぼのとしたところがある。
むんむん	熱い	be filled with excitement	The hall was filled with excitement and enthusiasm for latin music. ホールはラテン音楽の興奮と熱気でむんむんしていた。
めらめら	熱い	blaze (or flame) up	A heap of hay caught fire and blazed up. 干し草に火がついてめらめらと燃えあがった。
